love people’s binary approach to compelling fictional characters, i.e., they do bad things but they’re actually just misunderstood so it’s a moral failing if you don’t like them, and they do bad things because they’re bad so it’s a moral failing if you do like them. i literally lose so many braincells every time i log on

i don’t care about happy endings i don’t care about redemption arcs i dont care about narratives sanitizing complex or reprehensible characters so people who can’t establish critical distance with whatever media they’re consuming will have an easier time rooting for them
